Think. Eat. Save.

Think. Eat. Save.

My previous trainer sent me a text message asking any ideas about an essay for the theme of this year's World Environment Month: Think. Eat. Save. I suggested why not try to make the theme an acronym of words related to anti-food waste campaign.
Here's my suggestion to her:

Time
Over time billions of tons of food have been wasted or lost, and there is not enough resources to counter the needs of approximately 7 billion people inhabiting the earth.

Home
Every good action starts from our home. Preparing the right amount of food and choosing the right food for the family takes a big part of our global actions in preventing food wastage.

Innovation
Saving time and money through innovations reduces cost for food processing and food production.

Natural
Consumption of natural foods saves time and money needed for food production. Growing our own vegetables and fruits saves us from purchasing inorganic products that are not good for health.

Knowledge
Being knowledgeable of the environmental impact of our food consumption helps us make informed decisions and choices.

Environment
Preserving our environment equals saving life!

Advocacy
Teaching our kids and the youth in food preservation

Technology
The Internet, the media, social networking sites, and other telecommunication facilities helps in bringing in awareness to the public.

Solution
Working collectively in finding the right solutions to our environmental problem.

Accountability
Being accountable of our choices in food preparation and preservation.

Volunteerism
Going an extra mile to share what we have to our less fortunate and hungry brethren and to volunteer in government projects that promotes environmental preservation.

Ethics
It is our moral obligation to do what is right and to avoid what is evil. Sugar-loaded foods, highly inorganic food ingredients, and unhealthy food preparation are some but few among ethical issues in the food industry.

This year's theme encourages us to be more aware and make informed decisions about the environmental impact of our food choices.

We have to think before we eat and help save our environment!
