Separation Anxiety: First time to be Away from Home

You'll probably be the unica hija or unico hijo in the family. Mama wakes you up in the morning, prepares your bath, makes food for  breakfast, and even packs your baon before going to school.

College life is a big step and a new life. It's a period of adjustment that a student needs to face and go through. Being separated from your parents is difficult. Adjustment ranges from preparing your own food, washing your own laundry, staying in a different room or boarding house, sleeping with roommates, budgeting your allowance, and the like.

Everything is new! New people, new places, new friends, and new experiences which may influence ones views in life and future. It's the first step of becoming an independent person.

Your parent,s on the other hand, felt the same anxiety as you do. Your Mama can't sleep thinking about you. Does her beloved daughter or son have eaten his/her meal? Is the allowance enough for the week?

Nowadays, cellphones, social websites, Skype, Twitter, and the like, helped a lot. Separation anxiety is milder.
